Barclays, Canary Wharf

Working as principal contractor for Barclays Bank Plc, TypeTen underwent works on a large-scale strip out of levels 9 and 10 in Canary Wharf. The original, ‘business continuity was an overriding factor for Barclays, as the trading floors directly below were operational 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, hence noise sensitivity on this project was paramount.

TypeTen worked around the clock to carry out these integral enabling works for 8 weeks to minimise all disruption to nearby office workers. A baseline noise meter test was conducted prior to commencement of work, along with ongoing tests to ensure that all measures were working to not affect nearby trading staff.

By employing 60 expert operatives across steel, concrete, diamond drilling, fire protection, logistics, strip-outs, M&E, structural engineering, scaffolding, and more, we kept works on budget, on time, and out of earshot. With no disruption to nearby trading, the strip-out was completed after 8 weeks of committed work, leaving Barclays with the space to conduct builder’s works for new, improved office and trading spaces.
